NOTE: The WorkCentre will indicate when it is time to order a new cartridge (if enabled) and when to replace the cartridge.

A message will be displayed if the SMart Kit Drum Cartridge Reorder Notification is enabled. This message is a warning that the cartridge is nearing the end of its life and a new cartridge should be ordered, unless a new cartridge is already available at the site.

The SMart Kit Drum Cartridge can be recycled; follow the disposal instructions received with the new cartridge.

1. Move the Bypass Tray Extension to the closed position.
   
   
    
2. Lift the Bypass Tray into the closed position and make sure the tray is securely closed.
   
   
    
3. Open the right Side Cover, by grasping the top handle on the right side of the WorkCentre and pulling down. The inside of the WorkCentre will be accessible.
   
   
   
   CAUTION: The Side Cover must remain in the open position until after the SMart Kit Drum Cartridge is inserted into the WorkCentre. The SMart Kit Drum Cartridge cannot be properly installed when the Side Cover is closed.
    
4. Open the Front Cover by grasping the top, right handle and pulling down. Wordless (icon) instructions for replacing the Toner Cartridge and SMart Kit Drum Cartridge can be found on the inside of the Front Cover. 
   
   
   
   WARNING: Remove the Toner (Dry Ink) Cartridge before attempting to remove the SMart Kit Drum Cartridge.
    
5. Rotate the colored locking lever to the right, to unlock the cartridge.
   
   
    
6. Lift the colored latch to release the Toner Cartridge and remove the used cartridge by pulling it towards you.
   
   
    
7. Set the Toner Cartridge aside; placing it on a surface covered with scrap paper or similar material.
   
   NOTE: Hold the empty SMart Kit Drum Cartridge away from you to avoid spilling any Toner residue.
   
   The instructions packaged with the new SMart Kit Drum Cartridge will indicate how to properly dispose of the used cartridge.
    
8. Squeeze the retaining clip between your thumb and forefinger, and then pull the used SMart Kit Drum Cartridge toward you to remove it from the WorkCentre. 
   
   
   
   Place the used cartridge on a few sheets of scrap paper.
9. Unpack the new SMart Kit Drum Cartridge.
10. Remove the protective paper by lifting it off the top of the cartridge.
11. Remove the seal tape by pulling on the red tag attached to the cartridge.
    
    
     
12. Holding the SMart Kit Drum Cartridge by the handle on top of the cartridge, align the cartridge with the grooves on the frame, and then slide the cartridge into the WorkCentre. A click will be heard when the cartridge is properly installed.
    
    
     
13. Re-install the Toner Cartridge by lining up the top left and right edges of the cartridge with the grooves at the top of the cartridge slot, then slide the cartridge fully into the slot.
    
    
    
    
     
14. Rotate the locking lever to the left, to lock the cartridge in place.
    
    
    
    NOTE: If after installing the Toner Cartridge the Front Cover will not close, check that the Toner Cartridge is positioned and latched correctly.
     
15. Lift the Front Cover to close it.
16. Lift the right Side Cover to close it.
17. Select the [Confirm] button to confirm that a new cartridge has been installed. The SMart Kit Drum Cartridge counter will automatically be reset.
