This error pops up when the printhead in your printer cannot move back to its printing position. The printer relies on several components moving in sequence to be able to print. Any one of these components not moving or breaking will cause a 07,010.43 error code.
Without the service manual it is best to go ahead and call a technician out to try and resolve the issue. The most common cause of this error is a power outage or something similar stopping the machine in the middle of printing or cleaning. This would put some additional pressure on the drum maintenance camshaft and cause one of the lobes to break. This part is normally around $15 and is usually a very quick repair. In some cases the broken camshaft can lead to added pressure on the gear pack. This gear pack is screwed into the frame via some plastic mounts. These mounts can break. Xerox created a special process mount repair kit but the repair time is increased. Below are a few things you can check if you're handy with working on stuff. Either way we recommend you call a technician at this point just to be on the safe side.
Turn off machine and unplug power and network cables.
- Open the Exit Cover.
- Open the Front Door.
- Use a small coin to release the Control Panel cover from the top of the printer by following the steps below:
- Insert the coin under the right corner of the Control Panel cover.
- Turn the coin upward until the Control Panel cover is released from the right side cover assembly.
- Insert the coin under the left corner of the Control Panel cover, and then turn the coin upward until the Control Panel cover is released from the left side cover assembly.
- Lift and release the Control Panel cover from the printer.
- Turn the Control Panel over and place it on top of the printer.
- Disconnect the two white wiring harnesses and one ribbon cable connector from the Control Panel by pulling them out.
Remove the rear screw securing the right cover to the printer.
Release two tabs to pull the right cover away from the printer (1 tab near the power plug, the other tab near where you took off the control panel.
Once the right cover is removed, look at the right side of the machine near the front. You will notice a gear pack. Gently shake the gear pack. If it feels loose, the mounts are likely broken. If not, remove the maintenance kit and waste tray. Use a flashlight to look inside the cavity where the maintenance kit was. On the left you should see a big black plastic piece that blocks your view of the front of the printer. This is the pivot plate and it pushes the maintenance kit to the drum to oil it. Gently lift the pivot plate and look behind it. You'll see a metal bar with a plastic lobe. This part is the drum maintenance camshaft. If you can see a crack in the lobe then your drum maintenance camshaft needs replacing.
If both parts look ok, then a tech may just need to come out and rehome the printer for you. There are quite a few parts that need to be correctly set and it's best to have a tech take a look at it.
